Why they call me Francy...

The setting : a town in the middle of the Nevada desert.

This was my first adventure in that part of the world, and what an adventure! It is 10.30pm on Sunday 26th of August 2007 and we have been driving for about 8h when we arrived at the gates of Black Rock City (BRC), a town which exists for one week only every summer.

We are welcomed by the Greeters, whose role is to great and guide the new BRC citizens. As this is our first experience at Burning Man, they label us "Burning Man Virgins" and put us through some sort of initiation which entails rolling on the sandy floor (more commonly called playa dust), some soft spanking and the famous ring of the virgin bell.
Covered in playa dust, the greeters show us directions to 7.00 and Arctic. This will be our address for the coming week as we head towards our adopted camp Ashram Galactica.
As we park outside the camp and come out our RV, a group of people comes towards us with their arms wide open and say to us "WELCOME HOME". I introduced myself to someone called Dougie, who gives me the biggest hug i ever had : "I am Nancy from France" to what he replies " Welcome Home Francy", and there at this instant Francy was born.
